Intellectual property protection is crucial to foster innovation. Without the protection of ideas, founders would not reap the full benefits of their inventions and startups would not be fully compensated for their creations and cultural vitality would suffer.
What we talk about
The talk will cover the important information a founder needs to know about intellectual property and how they can better protect their inventions and company's core technology. There will also be a Q&A session where individuals can clear their doubts about intellectual property. The event will end with a networking session.

About the Speakers
Ay Ling Josaputra
IP Business Adviser
at China IPR SME Helpdesk
Ay Ling Josaputra is the IP Business Adviser at China IPR SME Helpdesk, where she advises European SMEs as well as SMEs from COSME countries on intellectual property rights matters. Ms Josaputra holds a Master’s degree in Dutch law, with a specialization in European Law and China Language and Culture Studies from Leiden University. She has dedicated her PhD research to measuring the level of IP enforcement in China, while studying and analyzing China’s IP enforcement measures, more in particular in China’s Copyright and Trademark Law. Previously M Josaputra has worked as a Lecturer of European Law in Leiden University, during which she also advised Dutch ministries on the implementation of the EU law, amongst other tasks. Ms Josaputra has presented research papers at various international conferences and published several articles including “Law Across the Border: The Fight Against Fakes in China”. Ms Josaputra has also concluded an internship at the Delegation of the European Union to China, Beijing, where she focused on intellectual property rights, handling issues concerning fake markets, geographical indications and patenting trends in the Chinese ICT industry. Ms Josaputra is a native Dutch speaker, fluent in English and Chinese.

ZGC Global Youth Lab
The Administrative Committee of ZGC Science Park and Innoway jointly launched the ZGC Global Youth Lab. ZGC Global Youth Lab is targeted at international youth with the willingness of innovation and entrepreneurship in Chinese market and with the intention to come to China. It aims to attract more and more international talents to China by providing a series of service support through Innoway and by constantly upgrading and optimizing policies.
The China IPR SME Helpdesk supports European Union (EU) Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to both protect and enforce their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in or relating to Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan through the provision of free information and services. These take the form of jargon-free, first-line, confidential advice on intellectual property and related issues, plus training, materials and online resources.
The China IPR SME Helpdesk project is funded by the European Union and builds on the achievements of a pilot project carried out in 2008-10, the subsequent Phase II in 2010-2013 and Phase III in 2014. Phase IV ran from January 2015 to June 2018. As of September 2018 Phase V commenced expanding China IPR SME Helpdesk’s services also to the SMEs from COSME countries.
